Christian Education

Of all the areas of congregational life . . . involvement in an effective Christian Education program has the strongest tie to a person’s growth in faith and to loyalty to one's congregation and denomination. While other congregational factors also matter, nothing matters more than effective Christian Education.

The ministry of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church is to provide a safe, comfortable environment where people of all ages can gather to study the word of God, to advance their personal faith journey, to pray together and to support one another. Our 2004-2005 Sunday School program begins Aug. 17, but we encourage families to attend any of our Christian Education classes at any time throughout the year. We also welcome families and their children at our 8:45 and 11 a.m. worship services.

Our newly structured Children and Youth Sunday School Program is geared toward children ages 3 through 12th grade. Teachers follow the PCUSA "We Believe"curriculum, which teaches children who God is, who and whose they are, and what they are called to be and do. Our "Gateways to Worship" program offers kindergartener a year of introductory lessons to worship, sacraments and the church year.

We hope you will prayerfully consider joining one of the following classes for spiritual study. For more information about any of our Christian Education programs, please contact Libby Whiteley.

You’re invited to join in the Educational Opportunities at First Presbyterian Church!
